Billy Helton, age 83 of Murfreesboro died Thursday January 23, 2014. He was a native of Rutherford County and was son of the late, Wayne and Hattie Mae Lovvorn Helton, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Louise Helton Johnson. Mr. Helton was a 1948 Graduate of Christiana High School and a deacon at Barfield Baptist Church. Mr. Helton was retired from Rutherford County Highway Department and was a Cattle Farmer. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Thomas Helton; son, Steve Helton and wife Susan of Knoxville; granddaughters, Katie Owens and husband Chris of Knoxville, Sara Miller and husband Charlie of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Emmalyn Owens, Haley and Owen Miller; sister, Jean O'Brien and husband Billy of Lexington; nieces, Brenda Johnson of Murfreesboro and Karen Willkins of Jackson. Memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Helton to Barfield Baptist Church. Friends will serve as pallbearers. Funeral service will be 2PM Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Pastor Ron Byers will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 11AM Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel www.woodfinchapel.com
