Billie Odom Smith, age 88 of Murfreesboro died Monday May 23, 2016. She was a longtime resident of Murfreesboro and was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Turner Smith who was Director of Bands at Middle Tennessee State University for over 35 years. She is also preceded in death by her parents, James and Mae Lashlee Odom. Mrs. Smith was retired Guidance Counselor, Teacher in Rutherford County and Assistant Dean of Women at MTSU. She was a member of North Blvd Church of Christ, and had worked with Meals on Wheels. She was also member of the Women's Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and Rutherford County Retired Teacher Association.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her children, Cynthia Keith of Murfreesboro, Jeff Smith and wife Lori of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Cindy Magana and husband Juan of Omaha, Nebraska., Jamin Keith of Nashville, Cayce Anthony and husband Tyler of Knoxville, Monique Smith of Atlanta, Chase Smith of Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Landon Magana and Tallula Magana both of Omaha.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Special Olympics Area 16.
A Memorial Gathering will be 4:00PM to 7:00PM Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
