June 14, 1931 – December 6, 2015
Bill E. Asbury age 84 was called home to be with his Lord and savior Sunday morning December 6, 2015. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was born June 14, 1931 in Bradshaw, W. V., the youngest son of the late Thomas Benton and Mary Jane Muncy Asbury.
Mr. Asbury is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Rose Asbury, his daughter: Elizabeth Haught and her husband Richard, son: Robert Asbury and his wife Doris, grandchildren: Caitlin Haught Brown and her husband Marty, Cristin Haught, David Haught, Brad Wilson, Jessica Asbury, Brian Asbury, Rebecca Asbury, Sarah Asbury, Shelby Asbury, Will Tomlinson, Brandy Loftis, great-grandchildren: Destiney Wilson, Jazmyne Asbury, Jordin Asbury, Tony Asbury, Trinity Asbury, several nieces, nephews, and special close friend: Wendell Buck. Bill was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Benton Asbury, Jr. and is survived by a brother, Robert Mitchell Asbury and his wife Mary Edith.
Mr. Asbury proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, was a retired teacher from Mad River Township Schools (Walter E. Stebbins High School) in Riverside, Ohio, and also served as a Cannon County Court Officer. He was a beloved and faithful member of Auburn Baptist Church as well as a dedicated member of American Legion Post 279 and the Korean War Veterans. In addition, Bill was a member of Eastern Star #363 where he was a past Worthy Patron and Masonic Lodge #18.
Mr. Asbury was a great firearms enthusiast, a fierce defender of 2nd Amendment rights, and frequent contributor to local newspapers' Letters to the Editor where he loved to share his views on political and current events. Bill lived life to the fullest, readily shared his quick wit with all those surrounding him, and enjoyed nothing more than time filled with the presence of his family.
Visitation will be Wednesday 3:00pm until time of service at 6:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Jerry Osborne officiating. Family request that memorials maybe made to Auburn Baptist Church Building Fund.
