Betty Layhew, age 59 of Murfreesboro died Friday December 22, 2017. She was a native of Rutherford County and was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lee Layhew, Sr., parents, William "Bill" Warrick, Mary Katherine Burnett Warrick. Mrs. Layhew was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by children; Danny Gowings and fiancé Loretta Armstrong of Murfreesboro, Carl Pennington and wife Jennifer of Smyrna, Chris Pennington and wife Samantha of Unionville; Laurie Knight and husband Chris of South Carolina, Jimmy Lee Layhew, Jr of Murfreesboro, Clarence Layhew of Murfreesboro; sisters, Judy Maxwell and husband Louis of Unionville, Sue Warrick of Smyrna, Faye Robinson of Shelbyville, Joy Ann Kist of Greenville; brother, Roger Gowing and wife Pat of Murfreesboro; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2PM Sunday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery. Visitation will be 4PM-8PM Saturday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. www.woodfinchapel.com
