Betty Hall Johnson, age 70 passed away September 21, 2013. She was a native of Nashville TN and was preceded in death by her parents Larry and Ruth Hall of Nashville, and her brother Charles Hall. Mrs. Johnson was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Murfreesboro, where she had been both Organist and Choir Director at one time, Holding Masters Degrees in music from Vanderbilt and MTSU she was to serve as organist and choir director for many Nashville Churches during her 35 year career as such. Those who heard her play, both organ and piano recitals will recall her pronounced love of both music and instruments. Betty in her career gave many organ and piano recitals throughout the greater Nashville area. One of the amazing things about her is that, over the years as a choir director she had memorized 700 hundred hymns; even those with many verses. She loved to connect organ and piano music to voice and her arrangements are still used to this day. Her myriad of friends will miss her smile and humor and the smells of her favorite desserts from her kitchen. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her longtime friend, Don Dunlap of Murfreesboro; daughter, Karen Lahde-Irwin and husband Eric of Bryan Texas; son D. Gary Lahde of Smyrna; grandson Nicholas Lahde and granddaughter, Miranda Lahde. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the charity of your choice. A memorial celebration of her life will be held in December at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Her remains will reside in the columbarium there.
