Betty Humphries, age 83 of Murfreesboro, passed away Friday at Vanderbilt University Hospital. She was a native of Colquitt, GA and a daughter of the late Idus Oliver Phillips and Emma Mae Scott Phillips. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Ida Mae Lewis, Sara Taylor, Annie Pearl Lenis, and a brother, John Oliver Phillips.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Norman Humphries; children, Steve Humphries and wife Cathy of Murfreesboro, Mike Humphries and wife Joan of Atlanta, and Nancy Elbon McGee and husband Michael of Murfreesboro; sisters, Hazel Toole of Albany, GA and Emma Wacaser of Bainbridge, GA; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends.

Mrs. Humphries was an active member of Barfield Baptist Church and a member of the Open Door Sunday school class. She retired as a Bookkeeper from the Broward County Florida school system..

Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Bro F. Murray Mathis and Bro. Ron Byers will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
