BETTY MAE BROTHERS MESSICK, age 95, of Christiana died Tuesday, October 07, 2008. She was a native of Rutherford County and the daughter of the late John Williams and Lillie Fox Brothers. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Jimmie D. Messick in 2001 and son: Phillip Messick in 2004. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Kenneth Neill and Rev. F. Murray Mathis will officiate. Interment will be in the Miller Cemetery. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: James and Jean Messick of Fosterville, Harold and Peggy Messick of Short Creek, sister: Lillie Belle Armold of Goldsboro, NC, 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Mrs. Messick was a Sunday school teacher and oldest living member of Short Creek Baptist Church where her parents and grandparents were charter members. She was employed by Goldstein and JC Penny for many years until her retirement. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
