August 11, 1937 – June 20, 2016
Our beloved mother and best friend, Betsy Neal, age 78, of Gallatin, TN passed onto her heavenly home Monday, June 20, 2016. She was born in Clarksville, TN to the late Alvin Roy and Rhoda Raymond Batey. Mrs. Neal was a homemaker to her family and had a special knack of making everything beautiful and fun. Betsy was a faithful member of Gallatin First United Methodist Church and involved in many groups and organizations during her years in Gallatin.
Mrs. Neal is survived by her children, Elizabeth Chappell and her husband Edward of Murfreesboro, Robert Gus Neal, III and his wife Joan of Fredericksburg, VA, and Courtney Pack and her husband Dr. Tracy Pack of Murfreesboro; five grandchildren, Janean Miller, Robert Gus Neal, IV, and Madden, Laney, and Betsy Pack; two great-grandchildren, Emma June and Liam Miller; brother, Ken Batey and his wife Rebecca of Yuma, AZ; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Batey of Franklin, TN and Dianne Neal of Nashville, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Lt. Col. Robert Gus Neal, Jr. USMC and two brothers, Alvin Roy Batey and Tommy Batey. She was adored by her family and will be missed dearly.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 11:00am at Gallatin First United Methodist Church, 149 West Main Street, Gallatin, TN 37066. A reception with the family will follow the service. A family burial will be take place on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 1:00pm at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville, TN 37221.
The family wishes to thank all of those who helped care for our mother and everyone who prayed for us over the last few years. Memorials may be made to Gallatin First United Methodist Church, 149 West Main St, Gallatin, TN 37066 in memory of Mrs. Neal.
