Bessie Mai Peery, age 91, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Zelma Thomas; grandson, Brandon McCormick; and brother, Carlton Thomas.

She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Kimbrough and her husband Robert, Melissa Church and her husband Matt, and Tabatha Brewer and her husband Mike; her beloved "sweet one," Cindy Singleton; grandchildren, Christopher, Alex, Tyler, Ashley, and Allison, Jimmy, and Amber; thirteen great grandchildren; and several close friends.

Ms. Bessie enjoyed tending to her garden and sharing afternoons filled with laughter, storytelling, and shopping trips. She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Also, among her proudest moments was dancing as a square dancer on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, a memory she cherished and recounted with her family.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 11:00-1:00 PM at Woodfin Chapel Smyrna. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Graveside service will follow at Triune Cemetery at 3:00 PM with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
