Mr. Ben Elrod, age 74, of Rockvale, TN passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018. He was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County, TN and a son of the late Harry and Lorene Nichols Elrod. Mr. Elrod was the co-founder of Elrod's Cabinet Shop in Rockvale which opened its doors over 50 years ago. He was a faithful member and deacon at Rockvale Church of Christ. Mr. Elrod enjoyed growing heirloom tomatoes when he wasn't going to a drag race. He restored a 1957 Chevy that he showed and won numerous awards for. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard.

Mr. Elrod is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Elrod; two sons, Keith Elrod and his wife Robbin and Kevin Elrod and his wife Erin all of Rockvale; brother, Donnie Elrod and his wife Sheila of Readyville, TN; sister-in-law, Lorene Elrod of Murfreesboro; four grandchildren, Christopher Elrod, Rachel Elrod, Luke Elrod, and Samuel Elrod; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Elrod.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Rockvale Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6, 2018 at 11:00am at Rockvale Church of Christ. Bro. Shane Merritt will officiate. Burial will take place in Dyer Cemetery in Rockvale.
