Barbara Taylor Mitchell, age 78, of Christiana died December 26, 2016. Mrs. Mitchell was a native of Bedford County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Dixon Mitchell, who died in 2012; her parents, Leon and Mattie Jamison Taylor; brother, Jack Taylor and his wife Edith; and sister, Peggy Whittemore.

Funeral services will be at 11am Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Darryl Lewis and Gilbert Gordon will officiate. Visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by two sons, David Mitchell and his wife Gina of Christiana and Joe Mitchell and his wife Hope of Franklin; grandchildren, Matt Mitchell and his wife Lauren and Macy Anderson and her husband Clay; great-grandchildren, Rylie Ann Mitchell, John David Mitchell, and Coleton James Anderson; brother-in-law, Robert Whittemore of Nolensville; and nieces and nephews, Jason Taylor, Eddie Whittemore, John Baskin, and Mary Miller.

Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Crescent Church of Christ. Active pall bearers will be Matt Mitchell, Clay Anderson, Jason Taylor, Eric Lamb, Michael Bryant, and John Duke. Honorary pall bearers will be Dwight Miller, John Baskin, Eddie Whittemore, and the men of Crescent Church of Christ.

Memorials may be made to Crescent Church of Christ Building Fund, Water Wells in Ghana West Africa, or Stones River Manor in memory of Mrs. Mitchell.
