Barbara Jane Gourley Davenport, age 71 of Smyrna died Friday December 26, 2025.  She was born in Nashville but spent her life in Smyrna.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Lawrence Douglas Davenport, Jr.;her parents Joe Anderson Gourley, Sr. and Johnnie Kate Baird Gourley.

Mrs. Davenport was a 1972 graduate of Smyrna High School and a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University.  She was retired from Rutherford County Ag Extension/4H.  She was a member of the Church of Christ where she last attended services at Stewarts Creek.

Surviving are her son, Lawrence Douglas Davenport, III; brothers Joe A. Gourley, Jr. (Brenda) and James R. Gourley; sisters Linda Carol Osborne (David) and Sandra Robinson (Todd). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to thank the staffs of Life Care of Hickory Woods and Adoration Hospice for their care and concern during her final years and days of life.
