Ava Grimmett, age 103, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee died Sunday, April 19, 2026, with her family at her side. She was a native of Eva, Alabama and was a daughter of the late Aquilla Zeb Williams and Annie Wallace Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell Lowell Grimmett and daughter Tammy Reed.
Survivors include sons, William Russell Grimmett and wife Cheril of Cullman, Alabama, John Grimmett and wife Glenda of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Byron Grimmett and wife Shirley of Waynesville, North Carolina, Mark Grimmett and wife Ruth of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren, Jason, Stephanie, Jennifer, Amanda, Russell, Ashley and Zachary; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Mrs. Grimmett was a member of the Northfield Church of Christ and a graduate of Jefferson State Junior College. She worked as a real estate broker prior to her retirement.
Visitation will be at Woodfin Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 2:00 pm until the time of funeral services beginning at 4:00 pm. Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Friday at Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale, Alabama with family serving as pallbearers.
