ASHLEY RENE VANDERPOOL-RATLIFF, of Smyrna, died January 25, 2011 of complications from multiple sclerosis. Ashley was born May 14, 1983 in Nashville, TN. A celebration of her life and memorial service will be Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna with Rev. Jason Underhill officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Ashley is survived by her mother, Debbie Vanderpool of Smyrna; grandmother, Mae Helen Diamond of Nashville; brother, Ronald F. Vanderpool, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Mamie Sheldrick of Jackson, MS, and Amanda Rippy of Nashville; uncles, Roy L. Jones of Nashville, David T. Jones of St. Louis, Robert N. Vanderpool of Smyrna; and aunts, Gay DeWeese of Nashville, Sheryl Wright of Old Hickory, and Jeri Lynn Davis of Smyrna. Ashley was preceded in death by her father, the late Ronald F. Vanderpool, Sr. Ashley was a graduate of Smyrna High School and a 2006 honors graduate of The MTSU School of Nursing. She previously worked at Vanderbilt University Hospital in the neuro ICU wing as long as her health permitted.
