Obituary

In the morning of February 1, 2015, beloved Father and Grandfather, Arthur Franklin Knox, Jr. passed away peacefully in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Art was 85 years old. Art Knox was born in the town of Picher, Oklahoma on August 26, 1929 to Arthur Franklin Knox, Sr. and Emily Louise Nugent Knox. Art was raised in Tucson Arizona with his sisters Jennie Knox Hingel and Constance Knox Carroll. He graduated from Tucson High School in 1947, from The University of Arizona in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and then from The Air Force Institution of Technology with a Master of Science degree in Logistics Management in 1968. Art entered the United States Navy in 1951, bravely serving our country for 22 years. He received the Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V" for service in support of combat operations in Southeast Asia. Art retired with the rank of Commander in 1973. While stationed at the US Naval Station at Washington, D.C, Art meet Annie Lynn Yates of Martin, Tennessee, they were married on July 25, 1959. They have three children, Donald F Knox, Tina Knox Bradley and David Knox. After retirement from the Navy, Art and his family lived on a small farm in Woodbury, Tennessee where he was employed by Emerson Electric for several years before retiring for a second time. He enjoyed travel, working in his wood shop, repairing and restoring cars and trucks, and spending happy times with his children and grandchildren. Art is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Annie Lynn and his sister Jennie. He leaves behind the loving families of Donald and Vickie Knox, sons Kyle and Sean; Tina and Ed Bradley, sons Spenser, Coleman and Walker; David Knox; his sister Connie and several nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and for his loyalty to his family. Special thanks is given to the kind and loving caregivers at the Tennessee State Veteran's Home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
