ARLENE YOUNG RICKMAN, age 86 of Smyrna died August 14, 2009. Preceded in death by her parents Zollie and Reba Young, two brothers, Thurman and Reese Young, two sisters, Ruth Billings and Julia Robinson, all of Dekalb County. Her passing is mourned by her husband of 65 years, Rev. Barney Rickman, daughters, Julie (Roger) Spears of Chattanooga, and Brenda (Don) Vantrease of Nashville, and a son, Dr. Gary (Joyce) Of Franklin. Her devotion to her family and her faith in God provided an example to her five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She will be missed by brother, Virtrease Young of Burlison, TN and sisters, Helen Faul of Michigan and Hilda Billings of Smithville, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rickman was a member of Stones River Baptist Church where a funeral service will be 11:00AM Monday. Dr. Ross Maroney and Dr. F. Murray Mathis will officiate. Interment will be 2:00PM Monday at Peeled Chestnut Cemetery in White County. Pallbearers will be Eric Crossan, Doug Johnson, Murrel Rickman, Preston Spears, Rogers Spears, and Don Vantrease.
