Archie Dennis King went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2009. He is preceded in death by his father, William Benton King, mother Dora Ann Johnson King Richardson and sister Ann Lois King Rouse. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Mary Catherine Riggs King, children Dennis (Raylene), Claude (Reta), Phil (Kathy), Marsha Flinn (Jeff), Avery (Lynda), and Keith. He is survived by 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. After growing up in Trousdale and Wilson Counties, he pastored Smith Fork Baptist in Statesville, Tn., Greenvale Baptist in Norene, Tn. Silverville Baptist in Williams, IN; First Baptist Church in Smithville, TN; Homestead Baptist in Crossville, TN; West View Baptist in Cookeville, TN; and was instrumental in the startup of Southeast Baptist in Murfreesboro, Tn. where he pastured for 17 years. From 1977 to 1988 he served as the Brotherhood Director of the Tennessee Baptist Convention where he played a key role in the organization of the Tennessee Baptist Conventions Disaster Relief Program. With a passion for missions, he undertook mission trips to Uganda, Kenya, East Africa, Jamaica, Upper Volta, Venezuela, Egypt and in the US to Ohio, Oklahoma with the Cherokee Indians, Michigan and Wyoming. Funeral services will be at 1 pm Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Donald Owen officiating with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Archies sons and son-in-law will be pallbearers and members of the Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief Teams will serve as honorary pallbearers.
