Annie Pauline "Polly" Knox Whitley , age 81 of LaVergne, TN, passed away Monday January 22, 2018. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Wilson and Annie Irene Hoover Knox. Mrs. Whitley was also preceded in death by a brother, Roy Wayne Knox and a sister Emma Jane Hicks.

Mrs. Whitley is survived by her husband of 60 years, James Robert Whitley; son, Robert Paul Whitley and his wife Sharon of Smyrna, TN; three grandchildren, Elizabeth "Liz" Cumberland and Ashley Tomlinson both of Murfreesboro, TN, and Paul Randall Whitley of Smyrna, TN; four great-grandchildren, Aiden, Elizabeth, Ava, and Reece.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Thursday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Rev. Milton Hicks, Rev. Edgar Boles, and Rev. Bill Thomason officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Whitley was a member of First Baptist Church LaVergne, and was retired from Metro Schools in Nashville, TN.
