Obituary

ANGIE ELIZABETH KERR CAFFY, age 93, of Nashville, TN, died Thursday March 3, 2011. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Ida Stroop Kerr. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gregory Kerr Caffy and daughter, Carolyn Kane Caffy. Mrs. Caffy is survived by her brother, John Kerr of Valparaiso, IN and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews, and several great- great nephews. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Brother Ron Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Wards Grove Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Caffy was a member of Madison Church of Christ since 1946, making her the longest surviving member. She attended David Lipscomb College for two years, where she received her Professional Teaching Certificate. Mrs. Caffy began her teaching career at Burks Hollow, a one- room one- teacher school in Rutherford County, where she also served as principal. After a period of time teaching in Rutherford County, Mrs. Caffy taught first grade for several years in Davidson County. While teaching, she also received her Masters Degree in Library Science from David Lipscomb University. Mrs. Caffy served as librarian for many years at Stratton Elementary in Davidson County before her retirement. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 PM until time of service at WOODFIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL.
