Obituary

Andy Hardy, age 93 of Murfreesboro died Sunday August 25, 2013. He was born February 13, 1920 in Marietta, Oklahoma. He was a 1938 graduate of Fox High School in Fox Oklahoma where he achieved Eagle Scout and Editor of the School Paper. Mr. Hardy hitch hiked out of Oklahoma to North Carolina working as a counselor and preaching to small churches for meager collections to supplement his first year of college. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University, Union University, and Sanford University. He was graduated of University of North Alabama where he served as instructor in philosophy and religion. He attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville Kentucky. He graduated Seminary at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee and married his Memphis sweetheart in 1941. He pastored at Woodstock Baptist Church then was called to Woodward Ave. Baptist Church as their 1st pastor. The church grew from forty-seven members to over seven hundered. He cherished his church family for 20 years. Mr. Hardy was past President of Ministerial Alliance and member of Executive Board of the Alabama Baptist Convention. His lifelong career of being a Baptist minister, instructor he also was a National Sales Consultant for Security Church Finance for over 30 years. In 1982 he was awarded the "Security Cup" for setting a sales record and life member of the President's Club having reached this production goal for eight straight years. Mr. Hardy's successful career with Security Church Finance help start over 800 churches and ministries. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Murfreesboro Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by his parents, Dudley and Ruth Hollingsworth Hardy; brother, Dudley Hardy, Jr.; sister, Mattie Lee Culver ; first wife, Marguerite Rushing Hardy of 45 years, after her death he was married to Katherine Ward Hardy of 15 years until her death in 2004. He is survived by his children, Gale Bailey of Murfreesboro, Andy Hardy, Jr. and wife Pam of Huntsville Alabama, Ronnie Hardy of Watertown Tennessee; step-daughter, Ruth Hardy of Murfreesboro; sister, Gail Smith of Oklahoma; brother, William Carey Hardy of Dallas Texas ; grandchildren, Connie Jo Baker and husband Stormy, Hallie Hagood and husband Lynn, Scott Homan, Denise Ott and husband Jim, Mindy Hardy, Matt Hardy, Gabrielle Hardy, Forrest Hardy and wife Amy; nine great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 10AM Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ken Polk officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
