Andrew Frank
Johns, Jr.
August 20, 1932 – June 1, 2017
Andrew Frank Johns, Jr. passed away on the morning of June 1, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born in Smyrna, Tennessee on August 20, 1932. He attended Old Jefferson Elementary and Smyrna High School, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee in Industrial Management. He loved "Good Ole Rocky Top." After college he entered the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant and enjoyed being a pilot. He married his devoted wife and love, Jewell Sanders, on October 22, 1960.
Frank actively sought opportunities to give back to the Smyrna community that he loved. He was a long time member at Smyrna First United Methodist Church. He served on the Rutherford County Homebuilders Association as President and charter member and a member of the Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors. He was Vice Mayor and Councilman of the Town of Smyrna, President of the Rotary Club and Lion's Club, and a member of the Sam Davis Lodge. Frank also served as a Board Member of MidSouth Bank (now Franklin Synergy Bank).
He stayed active throughout his life in the real estate business. He was proud of his developments and the contributions he made to Smyrna's growth. He remained especially thankful for the loyal suppliers, contractors, and customers who supported him through the years.
In recent years, he continued his work at Frank Johns Realty and faithfully attended his grandchildren's events, traveled with Jewell, worked in his wood shop, and stayed in touch regularly with friends and family. He will be missed for many things, including his quick wit and good humor. He especially loved joking with his grandchildren and being a playful role in their lives. He showed them the balance of hard work and fun, and enjoyed giving them tractor rides, watching college football, and sharing treats like ice cream, popsicles, and popcorn. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, businessman, community leader, and friend.
He is preceded in death by his father, Andrew Frank "A.F." Johns, Sr.; his mother, Mary Frances King Johns; his brothers, Ernie (Mary) and William. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jewell Sanders Johns; daughter, Jamie Johns Lee (Robert E.
