Andrea McKnight Barrett, age 91, of Murfreesboro, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at her home. Andrea was the first of Andrew Jackson and Sarah Melissa "Sadie" Bragg McKnight's 8 daughters. She was a native and lifelong resident of Murfreesboro. She was a graduate of Central High School in 1940 and a member of East Main Church of Christ for over 77 years where her father and late husband were Elders. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 66 years, Ewing D. Barrett, Sr. who died in 2007; three sisters, Kate Kress, Deany White, and Dot Wallace; daughter-in-law, Teresa Alsup Barrett; and son-in-law, Edwin Borras, Sr. She is survived by sons, Ewing D. Barrett, Jr and his wife Cathie of Bunker Hill, VW, Randall H. Barrett and his wife Jan of Madison, TN, her daughter, Sandra Borras of Murfreesboro, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren; sisters, Nell Cromer-Collick, Frances Powell, Helen Underwood, and Nancy Craddock; sisters-in-law, Eva (John) Layhew and Bessie Summar. Funeral service will be 2:00pm Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Bro. Wayne Lankford, Bro. James Lively, and Bro. Randy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Nephews will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Mingle and the elders and deacons of East Main Church of Christ. Mrs. Barrett loved to cook and have family and friends for dinner. She was a Cateress for the Murfreesboro Woman's Club for over 20 years. She also catered weddings and other special events. Mrs. Barrett loved to travel; she visited 48 states, Mexico, Canada, and several European countries. The family wishes to thank Andrea's special friend, Wanda Perry, and her caregivers, Jewell, Dean, Rhonda and Jackie for their support and loving care.
