Alta Virginia Hare McKnight, age 91 of Lascassas, TN, passed away Tuesday January 8, 2013 to await the Great Resurrection . A native of the Porterfield community, she was the daughter of the late David Dickinson and Sally McElroy Hare. Mrs. McKnight was also preceded in death by her siblings, Houston, Rush, John D., Ray Hamilton Hare, and Hilda McElroy; sons in laws, Gary Simmons, Henry Satterfield, Robert Vaughter, and Mike Miller. Mrs. McKnight is survived by her husband of 70 years, James C. Jimmie McKnight; daughters, Carol Vaughter of Murfreesboro, TN, Neika McKnight of Lascassas, TN, Nyla Satterfield of Murfreesboro, TN, Rita Lester and her husband Lannie of Milton, TN, Nancy Miller of Lascassas, TN, and Darlene Miller and her husband Stan of Lascassas, TN; son, James Kennedy Kenny McKnight of Lascassas, TN; grandchildren, Rob Vaughter, Charlotte Vaughter Beard, Laura Vaughter, Marty Bedsaul, Marla Bedsaul Bowman, Karen Satterfield, Stephen Lester, Jeff Miller, Anna Miller Woerner, David, John, and Nathan Miller; 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Brothers Tony Holt and Charles Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in the Milton Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Mrs. McKnight was a member of Kingwood Heights Church of Christ and a retired teacher, nurse and a homemaker. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Odom, Dr. Rungee, Dr. Goodman, and MTMC Critical Care unit, the 7th Floor staff and Caris Healthcare for the loving care they gave to Mrs. McKnight. Memorials may be made to the Tennessee Childrens Home, P.O. Box 10, Springhill, TN 37174, St. Jude Childrens Hospital, or Kingwood Heights Church of Christ in memory of Mrs. McKnight.
