ALPHA GALVESTA HOLMES age 70 of Murfreesboro, died Saturday August 15, 2009. A native of Kingsport, Tennessee she was the daughter of the late Devine and Ethel Owens Gilbert. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesdayo Eastern Standard Time at the Light Cemetery in Kingsport, Tennessee. Pastor J.W. DePew will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. She is survived by her daughter Debbie Szuba of IL., son Jimmy Holmes of Smyrna, special mate, Jackie Scott, step children Ricky Dale, Johnny Wayne, Jeanie Marie, seven Grandchildren, three great Grandchildren, sisters Joan Pennington of Murfreesboro, Polly Stapleton of White Pines, TN., Kat Sutherland, Janie Gilbert, Darlene Gilbert all of Kingsport, brothers Willie Gilbert of Murfreesboro, Asa Gilbert of Smyrna, many nieces ,nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Wentz Holmes and a brother Paul Gilbert. She was retired from Whirlpool.
