Alma Dority Atkins, age 87 of Smyrna, Tennessee died peacefully on Wednesday, September 4 ^th , 2019. She was the daughter of the late Worth and Sarah Alma Whitley of Kenly, North Carolina. Mrs. Dority Atkins is also preceded in death by her husbands, Paul D. Dority and Meredith Atkins, and a brother, Ray Whitley.

Mrs. Dority Atkins is survived by her children, Pamela Dees and husband Ronnie of Smyrna, TN, Danny Dority and wife Debbie of Kansas City, MO, David Dority and wife Sheila of Clarksville, TN, and Robert Dority of Dallas, TX; Grandchildren, Sarah Dees, Matt Dority, Thomas Dority and Will Dority, and great-grandchildren Levi Dority, Reed Dority and Gabe Lentz.

Mrs. Dority Atkins was a graduate of Glendale High School in Kenly, NC.  She traveled the United States and Europe extensively as a military wife with first husband, Paul. When she remarried, she moved to Illinois with her second husband, Meredith. Later in life, she lived with her children in Missouri and Tennessee.  She enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren.

There will be a private family service at Fort Donelson National Cemetery in Dover, TN on October 4, 2019. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Heart Association.
