Obituary

ALLEN BLYTHE, age 90, of Murfreesboro died Saturday, November 28, 2009, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late George Josh and Ida McGowan Blythe. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mable Davis Harrell Blythe, one brother, Herbert Blythe, four sisters, Mrs. John L. (Ethel) Baird, Mrs. Ernest (Ruby) Jones, Mrs. Glen (Nadine) Brown, and Mrs. James (JoAnn) Brown. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Shires League Blythe; and a brother, George E. Blythe of Murfreesboro, two daughters, Mrs. Randy (Mickie Blythe) Porter of Murfreesboro and Mrs. Robert (Lisa Blythe) Mason of Tucson Arizona; four step-children, Ron (Patty Black) League of Murfreesboro, Mrs. Dwight (Brenda League) Roberson of Milton, Mrs. Mike (Annette League) Picklesimer and Greg (Karin Wilson) League both of Murfreesboro, 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2:00PM Tuesday at The Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Verlin Thornton, Pastor Wilburn Blythe, and Rev. J.W. Jernigan officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Blythe was a World War II Veteran, having served in the Army Air Corps. He retired from Civil Service with 33 years of Service. Most of his service was with the Accounting and Finance office while at Sewart Air Force Base. He authored a pamphlet on military travel pay and devised and put into operation a travel pay system that is still used at many Air Force bases. He completed a course at Murfreesboro Business College with an accounting certificate. Active pallbearers, Alvin Baird, Danny Beasley, Timothy Beasley, Charles Buster Gross, Jerry Clinton, Matt League, Travis League, Derek Picklesimer, and Brandon Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Adult Sunday School Class of The Church of God of Prophecy.
