Alfred Schmitz, age 80, of Murfreesboro, TN, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016. A native of Hoskins, Nebraska, he was a long-time resident of Chicago and Galesburg, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Elfriede Dumin Schmitz and his wife, Evelyn Wade Schmitz.

A memorial service will be on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the Kingdome Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 1624 Riverrock Blvd. in Murfreesboro, TN.

Mr. Schmitz is survived by his sons, Nathan Schmitz and his wife Jennifer; and Mark Schmitz; brother, Helmut Schmitz; and two sisters, Ruth Schmitz and Ester Kaspar.

Mr. Schmitz was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses where he took pride in helping his congregation and spreading the word of God. He was a retired auto mec hanic and loved his family very much.
