Obituary

Alfred Power Hollins, age 89, died Thursday, July, 21 2011. A native of Gallatin, TN. he was the son of the late Sally Power and Samuel Fox Hollins. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Laura Crowder Hollins; sister, Frances Hollins Thomas and brothers, Samuel and Huelin Hollins. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23 at 12:00 Noon at St. Marks United Methodist Church. Dr. Jim Clardy and Dr. Craig Goff will officiate. A graveside service will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park at 3:00 PM. Mr. Hollins is survived by his wife, Geneva Bowen Hollins; son and daughter-in-law, Alfred Jr. and Valerie; granddaughter, Laura Ann Hollins; grandson, Zach (Nicky) Hollins; great grandchildren, Hunter and Gracie; brother, Hubert Hollins and sisters-in-law, Joyce Hollins and Joan Hollins. Mr. Hollins retired from McKendree Village Retirement Center in Hermitage, TN. as Vice President of Operations. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at St. Marks UMC or to the charity of your choice. Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church. Woodfin Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. 615-893-5151.
