|James Arnold Hayes, age 86, of Murfreesboro, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014. He was a native of Bradley County and the son of the late James Leon and Lillie May Epperson Hayes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Kemp Hayes who died in January of this year and brothers, Gene and Sherrill Hayes.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Dr. Eugene Cotey will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Hayes is survived by his daughter, Risé (Pat Patterson) Hayes; son, Jimmy Hayes and his wife Teresa; grandchildren, James and Julie Kate Hayes all of Murfreesboro; several cousins, nieces and nephews, and two grand dogs, Peanut and Hurricane.
Mr. Hayes was a member of First Baptist Church and a US Navy WWII veteran serving with the Seabees in Guam and Panama. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from MTSU. He was a band director and music teacher at Gallatin High School before he began working for the American Appraisal Company in 1956 as a staff appraiser in the Industrial Division. He retired from American Appraisal Company as Vice President of Valuation Services. Mr. Hayes held the designation of Professional Engineer and Senior Member-American Society of Appraisers. He was responsible for the direction of major and complex engagements, both domestically and internationally. He retired as president of Hayes and Associates and was recognized by the National Register’s Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals. He was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and former member of the Murfreesboro Lions Club.
