Life Legacy

LT. COL. HAYWOOD HALL, USAF RET. age 94 of Murfreesboro, Tn. died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Richland Place in Nashville. He was the son of the late Henry H. & Mamie Helton Hall. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Diana Lewis Hall.

He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Hall Bryan of Brentwood, Tn. , Marsha Hall Morris of Slidell, La. and Susan Hall Woody of Dayton, Ohio; brother, Lloyd Marshall Hall, of Murfreesboro and five grandchildren.

Funeral services 1:30 pm Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Deacon Pete Semich officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be after 11:30 am Saturday.

Mr. Hall was a graduate of Kittrell High School and Middle Tennessee State Teachers College (MTSU). Upon completion of college, he was appointed to the USAF Flying School, Denver, Colorado and then commissioned 2nd Lt in Army Air Corp. In 1950 he was promoted to Lt. Col. Regular Army Air Corp. During his military career he received numerous medals and citations. After retirement, he returned to his farm in Rutherford County. In addition to farming he was active in the Farm Service Agency, the Rutherford County Extension Service and the Property Assessor’s Office. He was an active member of the Retired Officers Association, Stones River Chapter, the Rutherford County Sportsman’s Club and a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
